Life, in good Bavarian

So that you know who you’re dealing with, we’d like to say “Grüß Gott & Hallo”: We are Kathrin Wickenhäuser-Egger and Alexander Egger – two real Münchner Kindl, whose hearts have always beaten for the small and big charms of our unique city. With the Münchner Stubn, we have realized a long-awaited dream.

Our idea was actually quite simple: at a place where people from all over the world set foot on Munich soil, some perhaps for the very first time – that’s exactly where we want to spread our arms, so to speak, and show what genuine Bavarian hospitality means. And what better way to do that than with a crispy roast at a rustic wooden table and a pint of beer straight from the wooden barrel? Yes, … and sometimes a couple of really fresh Weißwürscht’ say more than a thousand words.

It’s no coincidence that the Münchner Stubn has drawn us to the southern Bahnhofsviertel: the Wickenhäuser family has been doing business there for over 100 years, first with the sale of cars and as a successful family in motor racing, for 30 years with the Hotel Cristal in Schwanthalerstraße and for 10 years with the Hotel Dolomit in Goethestraße.
Let yourself be seduced by Munich’s charm under a white-blue sky. And of our fine delicacies, which are always worth a visit.

Kathrin Wickenhäuser-Egger

Kathrin Wickenhäuser-Egger, born in Munich in 1979, studied sociology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich and graduated with a degree in “Success factors for the cross-generational transfer of family businesses”.

In 2008, she also received her MBA for company founders and successors from the Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences.

As the daughter of well-known Munich hotelier parents, she already gained extensive experience in this industry during her studies – including at renowned hotels such as the Raffles Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten and the Kempinski Hotel Atlantic in Hamburg.

In 2006, she began her professional career at her parents’ company – Cristal Hotel Betriebsgesellschaft mbH. She began in the position of Marketing and Sales Manager, then Marketing Director. Kathrin Wickenhäuser has been a managing partner of the company since 2008.

In 2012, she founded Wickenhäuser & Egger AG together with Alexander Egger. Since then, they have jointly run the Hotel Cristal, the Hotel Dolomit, the CarPark Cristal and the 1912 Restaurant & Bar – all located in the vicinity of Munich Central Station. They are represented at street festivals such as Christopher Street Day and Hans Sachs with the Scharfe Bude, at Winter Tollwood with the “We love Brezn” stand and at the Wiesn with the “Brezn Kathl”. Since August 2015, they have also been running the “Münchner Stubn” pub together.

In addition to her professional activities in the hotel and catering industry, Kathrin Wickenhäuser is also heavily involved in voluntary work. For example, she serves as Vice President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria, as a Bavarian training ambassador and as a commercial judge. She is also a member of the Education Committee and Tourism Committee of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria, the board of the Association of Self-Employed People in Munich and the board of the young entrepreneurs on the Economic Advisory Board.

Kathrin Wickenhäuser is also involved in the tourism committee of the Bavarian Economic Advisory Council and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and organizes guided tours of the district as part of the Munich Adult Education Centre.

Alexander Maximilian Egger

Alexander Maximilian Egger was born in Munich in 1976 and gained valuable experience abroad at Harvard University Cambridge in the United States before his studies. He also attended courses on personnel and corporate management as well as business start-ups. He then graduated from the Catholic University of Eichstätt with a degree in business administration. His studies included a language course in France and an internship at Siemens in England.

His professional career began with a number of positions at various Munich-based companies, including März Fashion Group GmbH, Siemens and Allianz AG. During his time at university, he worked at the online car portal AutoScout24, where he ultimately rose to become Head of Product Management and Online Advertising. Since 2009, Alexander Egger and his partner Kathrin Wickenhäuser have been managing the Hotel Cristal near Munich’s main railway station – as well as the Hotel Dolomit, the 1912 Restaurant & Bar and the CarPark Cristal.

Alexander Egger also shows strong social commitment, for example as a commercial judge. He is also a volunteer bone marrow courier for DKMS Germany and DKMS Americas. For many years, Alexander Egger was a member of the advisory board of the Albert Einstein High School, which he himself attended before becoming a student. In addition, he was a member of the investment committee of the Future Stock Investment share club for around 13 years and worked in university marketing during his time at the university.
The Wickenhäuser-Egger family’s home is on Schwanthalerhöhe, where they live with their son Ludwig.
